Brett and I took a road trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, for Valentine’s Day weekend. We went there for the first time last year for Valentine’s Day, and then last fall, I became slightly obsessed with finding cozy cabins on Airbnb. I found the perfect one in Flagstaff, so we decided to book it for Valentine’s weekend this year. I joked with Brett we should make Valentine’s in Flagstaff a tradition. Today I’m sharing a full recap of where we stayed, what we did, and where we ate.
Where We Stayed:
Here’s the cabin we stayed at if you’re also interested in staying there. I can’t say enough great things about this cozy A-frame cabin! Upon arrival, we found a bottle of champagne and a bag of treats for Tucker. There’s a full kitchen, and they left us bacon, eggs, and orange juice in the fridge for breakfast. Also, Tucker loved running around in the snow in the fully fenced backyard. Typically we’re always on the go during our trips, but we loved just relaxing in the cabin.
What We Did:
As I said, we spent a lot of time just hanging out at the cabin, but here’s a more detailed breakdown of everything we did:
- Listened to music — I bought Brett this portable speaker for Christmas, which was perfect for this trip. Brett found this easy-hits playlist that we played in the cabin the entire time.
- We drank hot cocoa and watched the snowfall.
- Played games by the fire — We brought Rummikub, which is one of my favorites, but they had also provided games. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the cabin!
- Made breakfast — Brett made bacon, eggs, and mimosas on Valentine’s Day morning.
- We drove around the San Francisco Peaks — The highest summit, Humphreys Peak, is the highest point in Arizona. We didn’t do any hikes, but the mountains looked beautiful, blanketed in snow.
- We went to Buffalo Park — A spectacular open view of the San Francisco Peaks. It’s great for an outdoor photoshoot.
Where We Ate:
- Lux North — Serves freshly roasted coffee, specialty espresso drinks, and house-made baked goods. There isn’t a menu, so just be prepared for that. We were a little caught off guard, but the staff was friendly and helpful.
- Beaver Street Brewery — One of my coworkers recommended this place, and it’s great for a casual lunch or dinner. I loved the cheese curds, and Brett devoured one of their burgers.
- Tinderbox — We went here for Valentine’s Day dinner, and it’s very nice for a fancy date. We had the prix fixe menu, so I can’t speak to their regular menu. The ambiance was intimate, and the service was excellent.
- Dairy Queen — I think Brett would have DQ every night if he could. Brett requested we swing by Dairy Queen and then head back to the Airbnb to watch the Timberwolves game, so that’s how we ended the best Valentine’s Day.
